Dear Parents and Families of Mather Heights:

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Mather Heights Elementary School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition that has produced so many outstanding students.

During these past couple of months, I have been fortunate to meet with some of our parents, teachers and students. From these conversations, it is clear there is a supportive collaboration among all stakeholders to provide the best possible academic experiences for our students. I look forward to fostering these relationships and working with teachers and staff to provide a world-class educational experience for each child.

I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than fourteen years with a specific concentration in English Language Arts and literacy development. In addition to being a classroom teacher for the first half of my career, my most recent experience was shaped by serving as the district’s Elementary Curriculum Lead Teacher for English Language Arts.  In that capacity, I served FCUSD teachers by providing professional learning opportunities and instructional support.  This past year I served as the Vice Principal at Russell Ranch Elementary and Cordova Villa Elementary.  I am excited to bring my skills as an instructional leader to Mather Heights and to work in partnership with you to ensure your child’s academic success.

Along with teachers and staff, I will work hard to continue the legacy of excellence established at Mather Heights.  We will focus on character education initiatives, Common Core State Standards & NGSS, use of data to inform instruction via Professional Learning Communities, implementation of newly adopted curriculum (e.g., enVision Math and Benchmark ELA/ELD), and providing challenging and engaging enrichment opportunities for all students.

All of us at Mather Heights Elementary are eager and excited to begin what promises to be the best year ever.  As your Principal, it is important to me that everyone who steps through our doors—teachers, support staff, students and parents—is excited to be here! I am confident that we can meet the challenges of academic excellence in a positive, fun and nurturing environment.
I look forward to meeting each and everyone of you. My door is always open and I welcome productive dialogue. I feel truly blessed to be the instructional leader of such an amazing school community where, “The sky’s the limit!”

Respectfully,

Sara Parenzin, Principal
