• Walnutwood High School Enrichment Opportunities Fall 2014

    Walnutwood High School is happy to offer our students increased enrichment opportunities that feature hands-on and small group learning, as well as on-line learning.  Additionally, there is a list of all courses offered by Apex, our on-line curriculum provider. Please click HERE to see Apex offerings. If you are interested in taking any of the WHS enrichment or Apex courses, let your teacher know so they can work them into your schedule.

    This hands on seminar puts theory into practice for our students who are taking Art.  Students participate in 5 seminars offering instruction and demonstration in various mediums including water colors, digital photography, textiles/fabrics and pencil.

    WHS kicks up the science program with a UC approved Biology class that includes 5 labs for each semester! 

    Come and learn how to extract DNA, use microscopes to look at cells, dissect an earth worm, and more!

    CAHSEE Prep: English-Language Arts (ELA)

    Passage of the CAHSEE (California High School Exit Exam) is a graduation requirement. 

    To assist our students in passing the CAHSEE ELA we offer a prep class that includes test taking tips!

    Meets for 5 consecutive Wednesdays in Room A-3

       10:00 am – 11:00 am

     Start date: August 27th   

    CAHSEE Prep: Math

    WHS is utilizing Renaissance Learning’s STAR Math program to identify areas that would benefit from review or support in a student’s math background.  Because the test results prescribe an individualized course of study, students will be working with their core teacher to prepare for the CAHSEE math test.

    Test is open to:

    11th, 12th, and Adult Ed students who have not passed all or part of the CAHSEE


    Required for all 10th grade students and open to 11th, 12th,  Adult Ed students


    Any10th grade students who was absent February 3rd or 4th and 11th, 12th,  Adult Ed students

    Off Campus Options:

     ROP (Regional Occupation Program)  All ROP courses are 10 credits and fulfill the Career and Technical Education (CTE) graduation requirement. Offerings include:

    Manufacturing Technology: Metals, Culinary Arts at Kinney High School   

    Digital Imaging, Computer Animation, Careers in Education at Vista del Lago High School
