VIDEO Q&A: Folsom High junior chosen for selective STEAM camp in Africa
Every year, only 30 female students in the nation are selected to be involved in a hands on science and technology learning experience in Rwanda, Africa. This year, Folsom High School junior Emma Leng was selected to attend the experience that is commonly known as the WiSci Camp. Leng was one of three students chosen from Northern California to participate in the camp.
The WiSci camp is a three-week long event dedicated to teaching women about the STEAM fields. The camp is a cross-cultural learning experience that empowers women to be involved in science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. At the camp, Leng learned about computer programming and robotics in depth. She also participated in many leadership development activities and field trips in Rwanda.
