STEM Educator Appreciation Reception

The event, scheduled for This Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 4 p.m. is themed around STEM and a special emphasis will be placed on science, technology, engineering and math. This reception is a great way for all school district educators to be recognized for their hard work as well as to network and discuss topics around STEM.
The event will feature children’s author, Patricia Newman, who will be present to discuss and sign her most recent book Plastic, Ahoy! Investigating the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The book is a great illustration on the applications of STEM research. Speaking of research, there will be a student showcase of STEM projects on display at the event. Tony Peterson, the principal of the new Riverview STEM Academy, will be there to present his vision for the school and to answer questions from teachers and the community. There will be prizes and discounts offered at the event.
All district employees are invited to attend.
Order of Events:
· 4:00-4:30 - STEM Student Project Showcase
· 4:30-5:00- Presentation of the Riverview STEM Academy
· 5:00-6:00- Patricia Newman Showcase & Book Signing
