Shields families get firsthand look at Common Core math
Families sat side-by-side in the classroom with their students and dug into Common Core math lessons together during a special evening at Peter J. Shields Elementary.
During the Feb. 5 event, teachers in each grade level provided families with hands-on experience to help build understanding about the new Common Core State Standards and equip parents with skills to support their students’ learning.
Dozens of families gathered later in the school’s computer lab to learn how they can access the online supplements for the math curriculum at home.
