Rancho Cordova gives 3,000 free books to children
As Dr. Seuss famously wrote, "The more you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." Read Across America Day is a national event held annually on March 2nd, the birthday of Dr. Seuss. The goal is to inspire and encourage reading with a focus on literacy at schools.
The City of Rancho Cordova celebrated the event by giving a new book to every pre-K through second grade public school student in Rancho Cordova - that's 3,000 books for 14 elementary schools! All the books were provided for free by nonprofit Literacy Empowerment Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to assisting educational programs.
