The ceremony was a success, with over 50 attendees, including district and school officials, the board of education, the CHS band, choir, ASB, parents, and students. They were all excited for the addition of new building on campus.
CHS sophomore Alexandra Castillo said, “I think it’s great we’re going to finally be getting a performance arts building. Cordova High has a beautiful campus and this addition will just make it even better. Not only that, but we now have the opportunity to host performances on our very own campus.”
As a result of Measure P passing in 2012, a few new buildings have been added to the CHS infrastructure. The CHS student store, the oldest building on campus, has been partially reconstructed with its foundation now preserved; the new Science & classroom building has also been added. The performing arts building will be the most recent addition to the Cordova High campus.
CHS Vice Principal Elizabeth Shepherd said, “It’s going to make a profound difference in the service Mr. Sims and Mrs. Donavan can provide to our amazing lancers and our lancer community.”
