Folsom HS Students Design Projects for Zoo Sanctuary
Folsom High School Zoo Project is a yearlong activity challenging 30 students in their Principles of Engineering (POE) class to design habitats and enrichment items for their animal customers.
In Fall 2016, students went out to the Folsom Zoo Sanctuary to learn about the animal's needs. Students were tasked with picking an animal to design for using their engineering skills, said POE Teacher Pam Goldman.
Students created a detailed design proposal including CAD drawings and supply lists and they recently met with engineers for the review of their designs, said Goldman.
Up next for students, they'll be building some of the projects and installing them at Folsom Zoo Sanctuary in April.
The project is funded through grants.
