Folsom Lake High’s campus boutique supports students in need
Folsom Lake High School is getting creative to boost student attendance by providing clothing and shoes to students in need.
The school recently opened a new boutique that benefits all of its students by offering a wide variety of donated clothing and shoes.
Folsom Lake students are free to grab anything they need for their well-being – at no cost, no questions asked.
“We want to remove barriers that prevent students from coming to school,” said Lori Sims, the school’s administrative assistant.
Students can simply ask a staff member to visit the boutique, whether it’s to find a new pair of shoes or a new outfit to showcase. In the cooler months, students in need of extra warmth will be able to find thicker coats. Students who have a job but have no work attire can pick out slacks, dress shirts, skirts or ties.
The resource is open to all Folsom Lake High students, regardless of family income. Since its opening at the beginning of the school year, at least one student a week has used the campus boutique.
The boutique is stocked with donated items that local schools and area retailers, including the Nike Factory Store, contribute every month. Students themselves put the finishing touches on the space – formerly a vacant staff room – by painting and hanging hardware.
Folsom Lake High is open to all donations. To donate, please contact Lori Sims at lsims@fcusd.org or call (916) 294-9809.
