Teens honored for creative messages taking stand against drugs, tobacco
Students recently grabbed their video cameras, put pen to paper and tested their creativity for programs that challenged them to speak out against tobacco, drugs and alcohol in their school communities.
Several of these students have earned accolades for their powerful public service announcements, submitted in the following contests:
Hackademy Awards: These annual awards, sponsored by Breathe California of Sacramento-Emigrant Trails, celebrate the work Friday Night Live Club members do to raise awareness of tobacco use in films. Participants also are asked to create anti-tobacco PSAs.
Congrats to Cordova High students Morgan Andrus (pictured above) and Tyler Jenkins for placing third in the drama category! Click here to watch their PSA.
RC is Drug Free: This contest, organized by the Rancho Cordova Children, Youth & Families Collaborative, asked teens what they wished their peers knew about drug and alcohol abuse.
