VIDEO: Become a Community Reader and help children succeed
Community Readers is a program designed to help students in first and second grades who struggle with reading. The program pairs volunteer readers with students in need twice a week for six weeks.
Not everyone can read well or has the same access to support, and those who struggle can quickly fall behind. By connecting resources in our own community with students in need, the Community Readers program not only helps students become better readers, but sets our youth on a path to success in all endeavors. And students who complete the program, on average, increased their word recognition by 31 percent.
