CLUBS AND CLASS MEETINGS
There will be a Science Club meeting on Monday, January 23rd, right after school in Mrs. Filippi's room.
This month's Folsom Friends event is a Bowling Night at Folsom Lake Bowl on Friday January 27th from 3:00-4:30pm. If interested, text Julia Roberts at (916)934-6011.
Attention Student Speakers -Folsom Lion's Club has announced the topic of this year's speech contest - "Is the Right to Privacy a Threat to Our National Security?" The contest will be held at 7 pm on February 9 - finalist will be determined during PAWS on February 1. See Mrs. Posner in HS 101 for contest details.
CSF Registration began Jan 9th and runs through January 26. In order to register, please pay $5 in Student accounts, and bring your receipt, a copy of your Fall 2016 report card showing both ACADEMIC AND CITIZENSHIP GRADES, and your completed registration form. Forms may be picked up in Mrs. Malaspino’s room, A103, Mrs. Villero’s room, C105, or the Career Center.
CSF Registration will take place Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays during A and B lunch and after school, with the exception of Thursday, January 12. NO REGISTRATION WILL TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAYS due to staff meetings.
And remember: January 26 is the LAST DAY to register!
The USA Biology Olympiad will be held on Tuesday, Feburary 7th after school in Mrs. Filippi's room. The exam will last one hour. If you are interested in finding out more information about the Olympiad, please see Mrs. Filippi. Registration ends on January 20th and it is FREE.
BRO members: Sign up for the upcoming trips. Mather Heights is their next trip. If you are not a part of your class reps Remind account, contact them about it so you can be added. All of the officer's numbers are on the second page of your BRO packet, if needed.
Do you like making videos? Join the PSA/Video contest to make an anti-tobacco video around the theme “What would it be like if your generation was the first to be tobacco-free?” Flyers are available on Mrs. Guarienti’s website. Videos are due by January 30th.

ATHLETICS/DANCES AND ACTIVITIES
Come to the library during both lunches on Thursday 1/26 for the elective faire. Here you’ll get information about electives you may be interested in for the next school year.
Soccer: Come out and support your #1 ranked Men's Bulldog soccer team as they take on Vista Del Lago Saturday Night in the Stadium. The game starts at 7:00.
Golf: There will be a brief meeting for anyone interested in playing Men's golf this spring. The Meeting will be held Friday in room D107 right after school.
Guests Bids are now available for the Blacklight Sadies Dance on Friday, February 3rd. The dance will be directly after the varsity basketball game vs. Granite Bay. Tickets are $6 for students, $10 for guests and free with an ASB card. The cost of the ticket will get you into both the basketball game and dance.
Attention all Spring Athletes: Athletic Online Registration, at www.athleticclearance.com, is due by January 31, 2017. That includes your sports physical which needs to be uploaded on the registration. You can print out the sports physical on part one at the bottom of the page of the registration or you can pick one up in the main office.
The Sober Grad Chipotle Fundraiser is Thursday, 1/26 from 5-9pm at the Iron Point Chipotle. Feel free to spread the word and invite your friends to take the night off from cooking!
Any students attending any sporting events, needs to bring their Student ID in order to receive the $2 discount. Also, if you purchased an ASB card, you get in free and need to go directly to the entrance door.
GUIDANCE/CAREERS
Juniors – if you are interested in a week long summer program that teaches about government while developing leadership skills and civic awareness, then consider applying to Boys State or Girls State. During the one week summer program students will run for office, develop public speaking skills and participate in all aspects of developing a working government. Interviews will be held and one applicant chosen. Please pick up an application from Mrs. Castro in the Counseling office. Girls State is due Feb. 10 and Boys State is due Feb. 17
All 11th graders: you will be attending a Registration Presentation on Wednesday, January 25th during PAWS in the Theatre. Please report to your PAWS class first and then promptly make it down to the theatre. No backpacks, no food/drink, and remember theatre etiquette (use the isles and do not climb over seats.)
Students – come hear a presentation from the University of Hawaii Manoa College of Engineering. A representative will be here during PAWS on Thursday, January 26th in the Career Center. Sign up in your Naviance account or in the counseling office.
Seniors – Keep your Naviance account updated throughout the college application process. Update your colleges I’m applying to as SUBMITTED – after you have applied. Add or Remove colleges from your list as you make decisions. You also must update your counselor of any changes to your Tracking Worksheet that you turned in. There is a Revised Tracking Worksheet Form in the counseling office for you to use. If you have any questions, stop in to see Mrs. Castro in the Counseling office.
Feel like you need extra help in your world language? Great news! World Language Scholars' Society offers free Spanish, French and German tutoring every Monday right after school in World Language 101. Stop by after school to get some free help!
Seniors – Scholarships are posted in Naviance Family Connections. Please check this often as we are adding scholarships daily. We just posted one for Mercy Hospital of Folsom which has a due date of February 3rd. See Mrs. Castro in the counseling office if you have any questions.
MISCELLANEOUS
Sober Grad T-shirt contest is extended to Feb. 7, 2017. Prices go up on Feb 7th.

Your FHS PTSA has FHS Bulldog SpiritWear all year around! We have hoodies and pajama pants, socks and sweatpants and more! Come by every Thursday right after school, from 3 pm to about 3:45 in the Administration building. January is human trafficking awareness month.
Human trafficking is modern-day slavery that uses force, fraud, or coercion to obtain some type of labor and/or to sexually exploit victims.
There are over 20 million slaves who are trafficked worldwide, including in the US.
Read posters placed around campus to learn more.
Show your support for the cause and raise awareness by posting pictures of the posters on your social media with the hashtag “(#)fhsfightstrafficking”

Wednesday: 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (Intel tutoring begins at 7:00 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.)
Friday: 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

FEBRUARY ATTENDANCE CONTEST:
Be on time and attend third period during the month of February and help your fellow classmates win a pizza party!!! Starting February 1st the best attendance during third period for the entire month will win the prize.
FROM THE OFFICE |
Per district regulations, vending machines are off limits and not available during lunch times. They are available during passing periods and the passing time before and after lunch. Students are not allowed in the hallways during lunches. If students are found in the hallways during lunch they will be assigned a 30 minute detention.
Students caught throwing food, trash or water bottles during lunch will be assigned in-house suspension. Progress discipline will follow for repeat offenders.
