CLUBS AND CLASS MEETINGS
GPS Club – Today is the second day of the GPS service week. We are making blankets in the library after school. It’s a fun and easy way to get hours. Bring your friends and we’ll see you there!
Interacters - There will be an Interact meeting on Thursday, March 16th after school in room A205. We will be going over upcoming events and signups.
Attention Singers - Auditions for the FHS Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will be held Thursday, March 23rd right after school in the choir room (MU101). Prepare one minute of a song that shows off your voice and demonstrates your vocal range.
FCCLA is having their 22nd annual personal hygiene drive for Twin Lakes Food Bank. For the next two weeks, we are having a 3rd period class competition to see which class can collect the most items. Some items to include are travel size shampoos, conditioners, soaps, baby diapers, Chap Stick, toothbrushes, tooth paste, and lotions. Please check the list on the bags in your teacher’s classrooms. The class with the highest number of items will win a treat….. So let’s start thinking about helping other people.
Sophomores & Juniors looking to become Link Crew Leaders next year….Pick up applications from Mr. A in counseling or Ms. Stravers in P101. Applications are due Friday, March 31st.
ATHLETICS/DANCES AND ACTIVITIES
Practices for the Mad Dawg Wrestling Club have now begun. It’s not too late to sign up. Practices are Tuesday & Thursday’s from 6:00-7:30 pm in the Folsom High Wrestling room. Mad Dawg had its first competition last weekend and Caleb Freeland placed 6th in the State for sophomore heavyweights. Three other Folsom High wrestlers finished in the top 12 in the State for their division, including Caiden Cohen, Tuyen Tran, and Adrien Galenzoga.
Lacrosse at Folsom High School - Everyone interested in bringing lacrosse to FHS next year, please come to a very quick lacrosse meeting on Thursday, March 16th at the beginning of A and B lunches in the dance room in the gym. Lacrosse is a fun and fast-growing sport, so bring your lunch along to the dance room and check it out!
Congratulations to the Lady Bulldogs basketball team for upsetting #1 seed Menlo-Atherton HS on Saturday night. The Bulldogs are now 27-4 on the season and play at Oak Ridge HS tonight at 7:00pm. The winner will go to the Nor Cal championship game on Saturday.
This is the first time in FHS history a girls basketball team has made it this far. Please help spread the word to students and community members. Since the game is so close we are hoping for a BIG crowd to come out and support the girls… you know Oak Ridge will have a lot of fans too. Thank you and Go Bulldogs!
Class Positions - Packets are now available outside Mr. Castro's office for the following: Class President, Class Vice President, Class Secretary, Class Treasurer and Class PRC. Packets are due Monday, March 20th and the election will be Thursday, March 23rd.
Attention all students -If you’ve been issued Saturday school, you must complete it before attending the Junior Prom. Students who have been issued Saturday school and have not completed it will not be allowed in to the dance, even if you’re a guest or have already purchased a ticket. See your VP if you have questions.
Attention juniors: Junior Prom tickets are available for $65 through tomorrow, which is the last day to buy tickets. Guest bids are available outside Mr. Castro’s office. Students must present their FHS ID at the dance.
Freshman - If you are interested in playing JV Football next season, weight training has begun at 7:00am in the FHS weight room. JV Football weight training will be held on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:00-7:50am throughout the spring semester.
Students – when attending any sporting event, you need to bring your student ID in order to receive the $2 discount. Also, if you purchased an ASB card, you get in free and need to go directly to the entrance door. (This does NOT include playoffs)
COUNSELING/CAREERS
Students – A Sargent from the Marines will be here tomorrow during PAWS, to give a presentation on the NROTC Scholarship. This highly competitive scholarship awards a student with money to go to college and then train to become qualified young men and women for service as commissioned officers in the Navy and Marine Corps. Come learn about the basic requirements to earn this scholarship, and see which colleges participate. Sign up in your Naviance account or in the counseling office.
Seniors - Folsom Lake College has reserved Thursday, March 16th for you to take the English & Math assessments. The assessments will be given on the FLC campus in Room FL1-107 @ 3:30pm. If you’re unable to attend this date, please drop in Saturday, March 18th, from 9:00am-1:00pm in room FL1-107. You must allow 2½ hours to take an English and Math assessment, and 3 hours if you’re selecting pre-calculus.
Required to take the assessment:
1. Your Los Rios Student ID Number (current application for FLC)
2. A photo ID (CA License or High School ID)
3. Selection of math test that you will be taking
4. $2.00 in quarters for student parking
ASVAB Test – Folsom High School will be offering the ASVAB test on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 8:00am-12:00pm in the Multi. The ASVAB is a FREE multiple-aptitude test that measures abilities and helps predict future academic success. When the results are available, students will have a chance to go over their results with a member of the military. All students are responsible for making up missed class work. Sign-up in the counseling office, the last day to register is March 20th. If you have any questions, please see Mr. A or Mrs. Castro in the counseling office.
SENIORS: The FHS PTSA is proud to offer up to $2,000 in scholarships to seniors who plan on attending a 2 or 4 year college in the fall. In order to apply, seniors must be a member of the PTSA. Scholarship application and instructions can be found in your Naviance account or downloaded from the PTSA webpage: https://www.fcusd.org/Page/23154
Application and essay submissions are due by April 7, 2017.
Seniors – Keep your Naviance account updated throughout the college application process. Update your colleges I’m applying to as SUBMITTED – after you have applied. Add or remove colleges from your list as you make decisions. You must also update your counselor of any changes to your Tracking Worksheet that you turned in. There is a Revised Tracking Worksheet Form in the counseling office for you to use. If you have any questions, stop in to see Mrs. Castro in the counseling office.
Seniors – Scholarships are posted in Naviance Family Connections. Please check this often as we are adding scholarships daily. See Mrs. Castro in the counseling office if you have any questions.
World Language Scholars' Society offers free Spanish, French and German tutoring every Monday right after school in World Language 101. Stop by after school to get some free help!

Wednesday: 7:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (Intel tutoring begins at 7:00 a.m. and 3:15 p.m.)
Friday: 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Attention all students - We DO NOT allow any outside deliveries of any kind (flowers, food…and yes that includes pizza and Starbucks). You may have a parent drop off items to the front office such as lunch, homework, or other items you may need for school. However, we do not deliver to your classroom; you are responsible for picking up your own items.
Per district regulations, vending machines are off limits and not available during lunch times. They are available during passing periods and the passing time before and after lunch. Students are not allowed in any hallways during lunches. If students are found in the hallways during lunch they will be assigned a 30 minute detention.
Students caught throwing food, trash or water bottles during lunch will be assigned a 5 day trash pickup lunch detention. Progress discipline will follow for repeat offenders.
Students who park off campus need to be respectful of the neighborhood in which they’re parked.
